The Taj Mahal Palace

As lead designer at BAMO, David was entrusted with the redesign of the top floor and suites of the Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai—including the iconic Belltower Suite—following the 2008 terrorist attacks. The focus was on restoring the building’s historic integrity, rooted in its Mughal and Rajput architectural heritage, while introducing subtle modern updates. The project was approached with deep sensitivity, preserving original details and incorporating thoughtful design interventions that honored the hotel’s legacy. The work aimed to reflect both the resilience of the Taj and its enduring role as a symbol of India’s cultural and historical identity.
