VIEWS at Manele
Lana’i, Hawaii
A Dialogue with the Pacific
Perched on a bluff overlooking the Pacific at Manele Bay, VIEWS restaurant was designed to celebrate the raw beauty of Lana‘i’s southern coastline. The open-air layout captures panoramic ocean views, with a direct view of the legendary Puu Pehe—Sweetheart Rock—anchoring the horizon. A geometric mosaic floor, inspired by traditional Hawaiian motifs, grounds the space, while vertical slats of natural wood—reminiscent of driftwood carried ashore—serve as both textured backdrop and screening element. The design balances bold architectural gestures with natural materials to create a space that feels grounded, site-specific, and quietly dramatic—reflecting the unique spirit of the island.
