Timber, Brick, and Story: Where History Meets Hospitality
Maisonette is a meticulously restored loft in the heart of Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, set within a historic carriage house originally built around 1815. Listed on the local historic register, the building has taken on many lives—once a flour warehouse and saloon in the 1800s, later an auto repair shop, seafood market, and hair salon in the 20th century. Drawing inspiration from experience designing international five-star hotels, the space has been reimagined as a refined hospitality retreat. Exposed brick walls and rough-cut timber beams offer a richly textured backdrop for a curated mix of vintage and contemporary furnishings, sculptural lighting, and antique artifacts sourced from the surrounding region. The result is an intimate, immersive escape that honors the building’s layered history while delivering the sophistication and comfort of a world-class stay.
